Art & Design Club – Joanna Mizgala

Johanna was appointed to the position of Curator of the House of Commons in 2014. She has a BA Honours in Theory and Art History from the University of Ottawa, an M.A. in Art History from Concordia University and was a Doctoral Research Candidate at the University of Saint Andrews and at Carleton University. She has lectured and published extensively on museology, architecture, and contemporary art. She is a recognized leader in Canadian arts and cultural heritage institutions, and has worked extensively as a curator, in arts education and cultural literacy, and a freelance art critic. Over her career, she has engaged thoughtfully in the dissemination and interpretation of art, heritage, and material culture for diverse audiences at institutions such as the National Gallery of Canada, Library and Archives Canada, the Portrait Gallery, London, le Musée national des beaux-arts du Québec, the Confederation Art Centre (Charlottetown), the New Brunswick Museum and the Remai Modern (Saskatoon).
